Chiropractic Care
We provide advanced spinal correction utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic have we been able to provide the level of help and expertise that now exists. These newer correction methods are even safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. As a Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Todd Whittemore has years of training and experience in spinal adjustment.
sEMG
At Stow Family Chiropractic we offer the lastest technology in chiropractic care. The surface EMG machine measures muscle tonicity of the spine and dispalys the information in an easy to read graph on Dr. Todd's comupter screen. The graphs are used to depict muscle symmetry and the amount of muscle tension on each side of the spine. Normal is marked by white spikes or no spikes at all, meaning the muscle tension is even on both sides of that particular area of the spine. Colors like green, blue and red mark gradients in muscle tension, Green denotes milds, blue : moderate and red : severe. The percentage readings indicate the increased proportaion of muscle pull one side has over the other. For example, if you see a 61% reading on the left side, then that means the muscle on the left side is pulling 61% more than the muscle on your right.
This tool is a great way to give the patient a visual on where the problems lie as well as gives Dr. Todd insight on the origin of a particular condition. Knowing where the root of the problem lies often helps Dr. Todd target the injury and patients end up healing much quicker.
ASERT (Allergy Sensitivity Elimination & Reprogramming Technique)
Dr. Todd uses a method known as Allergy Sensitivity Elimination & Reprogramming Technique or A.S.E.R.T to desensitize your body and reprogram its abnormal immune responses. This system uses current concepts on how the body responses to all thing’s electromagnetic fields and how these fields affect each other. For more information of A.S.E.R.T. Nutritional Evaluation and Testing

Corrective Exercises
We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises designed just for them to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction by as much as 30-40%. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.
Percussor
Stow Family Chiropractic Doctors often use a percussor to aid in corrective and wellness care. The percussor is a hand held device that vibrates at a high frequency which helps to release scar tissure and restricted muscles. Muscles are what move and stabilize the spine and by adding the percussor into your chiropractic routine we can help your muscles to change your posture and spinal function. Muscle Testing
Several of our Doctors at Stow Familyt Chiropractic practice Muscle Testing to help better diagnosis and treat imbalances in the body. It involves testing the body's responses when applying a slight pressure to a large muscle, to provide information on energy blockages, the functioning of the organs, nutritional deficiencies and food sensitivities among other things. It can also be used to test the body's responses to herbs and other remedies.
Applied Kinesiology
Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a form of diagnosis using muscle testing as a primary feedback mechanism to examine how a person's body is functioning. When properly applied, the outcome of an AK diagnosis will determine the best form of therapy for the patient. Since AK draws together the core elements of many complementary therapies, it provides an interdisciplinary appraoch to health care.

Inerferential Electrical Muscle Stimulation
The Interferential Electrical Muscle Stimulator is a low frequency treatment that uses two medium frequenxy currents which "interfere" with each other to produce a beat frequency that the body recognizes as a low frequency energy source. The range is usually 1-250 Hz. The body produces frequency currents between 1-256 Hz. The major use of the interferential therapy is to accelerate the inflammatory or healing rate. So almost any condition can be treated where inflammation is problem.
